Oooo -- thanks for posting the pics -- I was planning a trip to a local Asian market for some new stuff...I just wanted some lower priced Kombu (they've got to be able to beat Whole Foods on that and some agar, right?).

Yeah trust me when i say theirs TONS of stuff at asian markets thats vegan. The market I go to is Buddist so they have alot of mock meats so look out for those and the desserts yummy!

Plus of course you cant beat the prices its loads cheaper then Whole Foods the agar pouches were 1$ a piece and their preety big plus they have flavors unlike the ones i usually see at the health food stores.

Awesome finds. Keep in mind that a lot of the Vege Farm and fake ham stuff actually has whey and/or eggs. I spent about 20 minutes looking through 8 veggie ham logs a couple weeks ago, and not one was vegan.

I just checked the vegefarm webpage they have seperate lines one being veggie and one being vegan. They also have and oriental line. Maybe your store only carries the vegitarian line?

Heres the Ingredients of all the Vegefarm Products I purchased: ( please inform me if one of them is not vegan!)

Vegemini Chicken Ham Log: Soy Protein (NON-GMO), Canola Oil, Vegtable Gum, Soy Sauce, Natural Vegtable Flavoring.

Vege Roasted Duck: Textured Soy Protein, Soy Protein Isolate, Vegetable Oil, Vegetable Gum, Vegetable Seasonings.

Vege Half Chicken: Textuted Soy Protein, Water, Vegetable Oil, Soy Protein Isolate, Soy Sauce, Vegtable Gum, Vegetable Seasonings.

That stinks about my store - but I had a feeling something was at least vegan. There's a thai place, actually Vege Thai that I swear had chicken just like the vege farm, that *used* to be vegan, and now they have vegan and vegetarian chicken, oddly.

Oh well, I'll just roll up my sleeves and make some chicken seitan in the future. My store (and there are others, but one I really like because it's huge, isn't too fishy smelling and has bubble tea) also has vegan chicken, but it's from overseas, and I like to try and stick to US fake meats.

man jess your a girl after my heart I swear I LOVE bubble tea haha and the only thing I hate about asian markets is the insane fish smell its drives me crazy.

Ive actually never made my own seitan but considering that I only started eating seitan a couple months ago... I always just used tofu in everything but its nice to have a different texture every once in a while.

OH WOW! That variety of asian vegan mock-meats and other eats makes me yellows ;) Here in Finland we have that Asian markets too, but htere is more smaller amount of variety for this vegan products.. I hope we have someday mutch bigger amount of vegan products(ecpesially I`m waiting all of those different mock-meats,in the moment I have only find some canned mock-duck,chicken and chop-suey but I hope we got someday also products like that Mock Ham Chicken or Vegetable Spring Rolls.).

And thanks to your nice post in my blog! And thanks to the advises with that pan cake-problem I were got :) Maybe in next time I must putt more baking powder in my pancakes!

And also: I like your blog mutch! that pictures and recipes makes me hungry.. Keep cooking, keep vegan!
